The first tourist thing I did on my first visit to Auckland was to visit One Tree Hill and Mount Eden. The weather was very chilling and the cold weather is biting my bones, probably I am not accustomed to the local weather as it was below 16°C which I have never experienced before. There is no tree on top of the hill but an obelisk signify One Tree Hill.

First thing to notice when driving up the short hill, there is sheeps all around. Yeap, sheep is in the city. I was told that the idea of bringing small sheep into the hill for grazing until it grow big, it will then relocated to another area. I came to me that it was a pretty creative idea and probably most cost effective as there is no need for people to cut and maintain the grasses on the hill. Of course provided that no one steals sheep, and knowing the decision of why sheep are there… I suppose it’s pretty safe to do so.

It’s puzzling that all these sheep grazing and there is a single Rooster in a corner… it’s totally out of place, the Rooster walk like a boss. I couldn’t resist to take a photo due to the contract in colors between the animals. I am tempted to call this place One Cock Hill instead! 😛

Next is a quick visit to Mount Eden and didn’t manage to take any photos as all, the first was the volcano crater and a panorama of the city. Panning the panorama on the left, the storm is coming from the view as visibility lowered and it gets soaking wet after that.
